ANNOUNCEMENTS
The Wesleyan Holiness Church
will be 100 years old in 2008. March of Witness to launch the year of
celebrations was held on Saturday 8th December, 2007. The march culminated with
a Rally at Bank Street.
The Conaree Wesleyan Holiness
Church will be celebrating its 40th Anniversary in June of this year and plans
are afoot for this milestone. Further information will be relayed as plans
progress.
At the end of the Annual
District Conference in February there were various changes. One of the major
changes was the replacement of Pastor Loughlin Tatem as Pastor of the Conaree
Wesleyan Holiness Church. The new Pastor is the Rev. Mrs. Sonia Herbert, wife
of the District Superintendent of the St. Kitts District of the Wesleyan
Holiness Church.
Rev. Mrs. Sonia Herbert was
installed as the new Pastor of the Conaree Wesleyan Holiness Church during the
Morning Worship on Sunday 6th April, 2008. She was installed by the Rev. Mrs.
Salome James, Assistant District Superintendent. The Service was chaired by
Sister Kathleen Hobson.
Following the Installation of
Rev. Herbert, the congregation was invited to meet and greet the new Pastor.
Sister Vernice Hendrickson, the Church Secretary, welcomed the new Pastor and
presented her to the Church. A Fruit Basket was ably presented to Rev. Herbert
by Renecia Mc. Donald. Rev. Herbert then responded appropriately and expressed
thanks for the warm welcome she received. A special song was rendered by the
Wesleyan Youths and was followed by the Sermon which was delivered by the Rev.
Mrs. Salome James. The congregation joined in the singing of the Closing Hymn On
Christ the Solid Rock I stand. The service ended with a Prayer by the Church
Secretary and followed by the Benediction.
The Annual Revival Services of
the Conaree Wesleyan Holiness Church was held from Sunday 27th April to Friday
2nd May, 2008. The first day of the Services i.e. Sunday 27th was designated at
FRIENDS
SUNDAY, when members and
followers invited their friends to this very special service and have them share
in the opening Service of our Revival Services.
Major Stanley Griffin Regional
Commander of the Salvation Army was the speaker from Sunday to Wednesday. He
spoke from his heart and indeed touched the minds and spirits of those who
attended. His sermons were filled with rich food that nourished and refreshed
everyone who attended. We were honoured to have the mother of Major Griffin to
complete the week with her own unique style of delivering the Word on Thursday
and Friday Nights. It is said that the Rev. Mrs. Eunice Griffin did put the
icing on the cake.
We give God thanks for the
blessings received during these services.
This year Pentecost Sunday and
Mother’s Day were celebrated on Sunday 11th May. Many persons have tried to go
back into history to try to remember if and when these two events were ever
celebrated on the same day, indeed, no one can recall.
Mothers were recognized during
the morning Service then the annual Mother’s Day Program was held in the
evening. The Program was enjoyable – items in poetry and song were rendered. A
Dance was done by Junelle Liburd. The Sunday-School Department hosted the event
as per usual. All Mothers were presented with a gift. The Gifts were
distributed by Sunday-School students Kathlyn Hobson and Tonya Jeffers. The
Chairperson was Renecia Mc Donald who ably performed her task.. This was her
first attempt. She certainly is a promising young lady. We thank God for these
young people who are being groomed to fill their roles as adults.
The BEST MOM and MOTHER OF THE
YEAR is Sister Dorothy Browne who was appropriately attired for the occasion.
She was escorted to the platform by Bro. Everet Dore and the best MOM Sash was
placed around her then she was seated. She was introduced by Sis. V.
Hendrickson who also read a poem which was composed in her honour. The 2008
BEST MOM was showered with a Best Mom Certificate, gifts, flowers and a
beautifully decorated cake. We congratulate Sis. Browne and wish her a happy and
Blessed year.
